Winston Churchill was an amazing leader and one of the heroes of world war II, his public speaking skills were legendary and he could inspire a crowd with ease. His inspirational speeches and sayings were one of the primary factors in Britain ability to weather the storm of world war II. There were constant air raids, 1000s upon 1000s of bombs being dropped regularly with the one aim of breaking Britain spirit. But Britain did not falter thanks largely to the rallying call of Winston Churchill.
Back in world war II politics was a very different monster and the people of the land often would believe and follow what they were told by the people in government, this helped greatly in Churchill's ability to calm the people and give them a sense that Britain was doing well and the war would be won. The reality of the situation was a lot closer and less certain and Britain came close to being beaten but the will of the people gave Britain what it needed to buckle down and fight on.
"We shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender."
-Winston Churchill
